Born in Chippewa Falls, on Jul. 17, 1945 Departed Jan. 27, 2017 John S. Barnett, 71, Minocqua, formerly of Wausau, passed away peacefully Friday, January 27, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born July 17, 1945 in Chippewa Falls to the late Douglas and Gladys (Mathews) Barnett. On June 7, 1969 he married Patsy "Pat" Schulz at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Slades Corners, WI. She survives. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1963-1967 as an Aviation Electronics Technician and ended his working career as a Revenue Agent for the State of Wisconsin. Fishing, golf, spectator sports (especially the Packers & Buckys), and classic movies were his passions, second to his devoted family, who lovingly knew him as "Bumpa". John is survived by his wife, Pat, Minocqua; two daughters, Khristin (Shane) Dupuis, Green Bay, and Dana (Bob) Best, Wausau; grandchildren, Brendan and Tanner Dupuis and Nicholas, Grayson and Marshall Best; and one brother Doug (Maryann) Barnett, Paddock Lake. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a granddaughter Hannah Best and brothers James and Tad Barnett. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Jenn Collins will preside. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in John's name. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Haque, Dr. Allen, our pastors at St. Andrew, and all our special friends at Aspirus Cancer Center, Oncology Unit and Palliative/Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
