Virginia Marie Cole was born on March 23, 1927, in Moweaqua, Illinois. She was the third daughter of James Felix Cole and Pansy Clara Rosina Hudson. She was raised in Decatur, graduating from Decatur High School in 1945. She married the love of her life, Jim Siburt on November 30, 1947. Together they raised six children. Through the years, she and Jim moved frequently throughout Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin before settling in Wausau in 1965, which became the home where they raised their children, watched their grandkids play and grow and would host many family gatherings over the next 40 years. Virginia was an immaculate house keeper and a wonderful cook. She did everything with a creative touch. Whether it was decorating cookies or making seasonal and holiday decorations, she had a knack for keeping kids of all ages entertained, regardless of the weather. She loved family history and old photographs. She was a talented painter of flowers, drew portraits, and was an expert at crocheting. These are just a few examples from the impossibly long list of things that made her special. She loved to read and garden but most of all, she loved her family, genuinely and generously; and even when Alzheimer's took her mind, her kind and gentle heart shined through.
