PREVIEW - Merrill

by Chris Conley

EVERYTHING EVERGREENS (FOX SPORTS WAUSAU-WSAU) Today's Everest-Merrill game (5pm Simon Field) is a de-facto battle for second-place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Each team has one conference game remaining on Thursday, but its hard to imaging Merrill beating first-place SPASH. Its also hard to think that Everest could lose to last-place Wausau-East. For the Evergreens to rebound to second-place would be a nice achievement, considering the team dropped 5-of-7 and looked like it was going nowhere earlier in the season.

The Evergreens can't feel very good about the April 8-5 loss to Merrill. It was a miserable, cold-weather game up north, and I thought the poor conditions impacted pitchers Sean Leudtke and Austin Solomon. The Evergreens hit early, but didn't hit late. Brady Borrell is the likely starter tonight, and Everest is on a six game winning streak.

Because of the Wisconsin Woodchucks season-opener tonight, the Everest-Merrill game will be on tape-delay on AM-1390 FM-93.9 around 9:30 or 10pm. If you can't stay up late, well post the podcast in real time at FoxSportsWausau.com and EverythingEvergreens.com.
