The East baseball team goes into this week's tournament on a 6 game skid and it hasnt been pretty. The Lumberjacks have struggled in almost every aspect of the game as they prepare for their regional tournament matchup against Merrill on Tuesday night. It was a familiar story in the final two games of the regular season late last week. Late leads that slipped away in a flurry of walks, errors and hits. The frustrating part for the East coaching staff is that there are some talented players in the lineup but I think the players themselves would tell you that they have under-achieved this season. Can it turn around in the three days since last Friday? Well. the tournament is a one and done situation and any team can get hot for one game. The pitchers will have to throw strikes and limit free passes...the defense will have to make the routine plays...the offense will have to be aggressive in hitters counts...and yes they can beat the Bluejays...but if they play like they have the last few weeks, it's not going to happen.
Kennidi Knoblock heads to the State track meet this week. She will represent the Lumberjacks in the 1600 meter run.
