Shoddy Defense Does In Lumberjacks

Wisconsin Rapids beat Wausau East in baseball action Friday night 7-1. East took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning but Rapids quickley tied it with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.

The Raiders were able to score 3 runs in the fifth and 3 more in the 6th benefiting from two errors and also some plays that weren't errors but should have been made. Colton Nieman used his speed to score from 2nd base on a wild pitch that didnt get more than 20 feet from home plate.

Ian Corbett drove in the only run for the Lumberjacks. Bryce Widmark took the loss strking out 6 and walking 3 in 5 innings of work.

The Jacks are now 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the Valley and are scheduled to face Northland Pines on the road on Monday
