With a nineteen month old running around, time to go Christmas
shopping and well money, isn't really something there is a lot of! I
also want to teach her Christmas isn't just about the presents we
receive but thoughtful gifts you give to others to show you care, price
aside! Bonus, she loves to create and make things with me, so it's more Mother-Daughter bonding time!
Two nights ago we decided to try a sugar scrub. Something nice we could give to the ladies in our lives to let them know we care! And, for most of them, we know how hard they work and so they could do some pampering to their feet!
We found online a Gingerbread Sugar Scrub.
It called for:
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup oil (suggested olive oil, coconut oil or almond oil)
2 tbsp of ground ginger and 2 tbsp of mix spice (like pumpkin pie spice)
thought wow! This is super easy and we have everything in our
kitchen. I made a batch before I invested in the cute jars, ribbons and
tags to make sure this was something we wanted to give out.
I have to be honest, I hate this scrub!
The function of it is great! Our household has never had such soft feet and elbows, but the smell! It just smells like oil (I used olive as it was suggested)
Knowing it's the fragrance that has turned me off from this, I would be willing to try this again with one of the other suggested oils hoping for a less oil and more of a sweet smell. I really think that the olive oil was the problem, not the spices called for. Alone, they're strong!
Our next scrub though will be a peppermint one, I am hoping for better results with the fragrance for it!
