OPINION: Some shop talk

NEWS BLOG (WSAU) Bob Brinker is to financial talk what Rush Limbaugh is to political talk. And there’s a change starting next month to Bob Brinker’s ‘Moneytalk’ program. After 25-years behind the microphone, Brinker is cutting back his broadcast schedule to once-a-week. Starting in June, Moneytalk will air Sundays only.

I’m not sure what will happen to Moneytalk on WSAU’s schedule. During football season, a Sunday only show almost never airs because of Packers football conflicts.

We’ll decide in the next few days if some Moneytalk is better than none, or if we should add a new program to our lineup that would air both Saturday and Sundays where there are no sports conflicts.

And…

The Brewers are playing better baseball, but their broadcast booth misses Bob Uecker. There is no one who can make a blowout baseball interesting with his stories and overall personality.

Corey Provis is a sharp, up-and-coming play-by-play announcer. I’m a fan. But Provis is a tactician. He’s accurate in his calls, and knows his baseball stats and strategy, and gets the names right. Davey Nelson struggles with his radio presence, but he also knows the game and will become more comfortable in time. But Uecker is a personality. And baseball on the radio is all about personalites.
