I would say "I hate to say I told you so," but as you know, that phrase is one of the biggest lies in the world, and in fact people love to say I told you so, including me: I told you the Toyota acceleration story was going to turn out to be driver error, and according to this Sheboygan Press story, it has. And virtually every point I made has come to pass:

A 76 year old woman believed she had her foot on the brake the whole time; she didn't. I said at the time, a 76 year old woman losing control of a vehicle makes a lot more sense than suspecting the vehicle.

Wittnesses confirmed seeing brake lights to match her story. Surveillance video shows they saw no such thing. They aren't lying; I said on the air eyewitness testimony is some of the most useless data on the planet.

Many listeners believed the woman is a "two-footed" driver; using her left foot for the brake. We'll never know that, but it certainly appears she accelerated when she intended to brake. This is something more likely to happen to a 76 year old person than, say, a 35 year old person. Yes I hit a home-run on this one, so I am going to gloat.
