First, allow me to applaud Republicans for their staunch opposition to this travesty. Second, this isn't a direct quote of Doyle, so I'm not sure exactly what he said, but this story says this about the failure of Dems to pass a transit bill or global warming bill.
Doyle blamed Republicans for uniting against those bills, thereby forcing nearly every Democrat
to support them. Democrats hold a slim 52-46 majority in the Assembly and an 18-15 edge in the Senate.
I don't even know where to begin on this, if, in fact, Doyle said anything even remotely close to this. "Republicans uniting against those bills" "forced" Democrats to support them??? Wah???? Why would any Democrat want to vote against these gems? Further, since when is it up to Republicans to help pass legislation they perceive as bad legislation?
I applaud, reward and celebrate Republicans for uniting against those bills! They acted exactly the way they need to if they want a big night in November. Who is Doyle's audience anyway with this idiotic statement? One would assume the liberal base who will be disappointed in dems and perhaps express that disappointment in lethargy at the polls. He seems to be saying, see, this is why we need more democrats, in case some democrats actually won't support the garbage that a majority of democrats try to get passed. Again, I'd like to see exactly what Doyle said, but I wouldn't put it past him that he said something close to this. If he did, it is truly mind-boggling.
