It's not surprise Reid thinks he can ride this out: His own party will circle the wagons and the MSM will treat him far differently than they would a conservative under the same circumstances. But Reid's numbers are already flagging back home and this won't help.

Personally, I think President Clinton's reported comment in the same book is much worse; that he told Senator Edward Kennedy that a a few years back he (Obama) would be getting us coffee. But Clinton isn't running for anything, so it's not perceived as the big deal Reid's comments are.
