68 percent of Michigan blacks say it'll be at least another 100 years, if ever, before racial equality is realized. I define racial equality as equal opportunity among all races. I'll ask what I always ask when this topic comes up: how is racism holding back blacks in 2010 from having the same opportunity as whites?
No policy, regulation or law will ever guarantee equal achievement. But I would argue racial equality, equal opportunity, for the most part, exists today. The greatest opportunity gap right now is educational, and you can thank the education establishment's bucking of school reform for that.
