According to CBS, this nomination will be announced at a news conference 10 AM our time. I incorrectly predicted Kagan when President Obama nominated Justice Sotomayor to the High Court. I felt because of her age, late 40's at the time, Kagan would be attractive. Still just 50, I believe this relatively youthful age for a Supreme Court Justice nominee(Chief Justice Roberts was also 50 at the time of his nomination) is a much bigger factor this time. The ideological battle in America today is seen as being personified as Roberts V. Obama. The Supreme Court has issued several broadly written decisions in recent years and I believe Obama put a higher premium on longevity in a nominee as a result.
