And the liberal effort to paint him as such as growing very tiring. I have an uncommon perspective on this topic; I was far, far left when Ronald Reagan was elected President. I remember the Republican establishment preferring first Gerald Ford in '76 and then George H.W. Bush in 1980 because Reagan was too extreme. And we on the left thought he was a crazy man.
One of the things that help pushed me to the right in the '90s was realizing Reagan was right on almost everything in the '80s. When I say "right on almost everything" I mean correct. But I could mean "right" in the political sense as well. For liberals to suggest Reagan was in any way palatable to them is laughable. I know of what I speak here. It's been put crudely but accurately this way: "To a lib the only good Republican is a dead one." Libs viewed Reagan then exactly as they view Ryan now.
