The media has made its post-Newtown strategy clear; if you don't believe increased gun control is the answer to random mass shootings you are part of the lunatic fringe. This is the "global warmingization" of the gun issue; you are a "gun denier" if you don't get on board with the anti-gun movement. Sandy Hook, to them, was the tipping point where the debate is over and it's time to marginalize those who don't accept that position.
This is why Wayne LaPierre was riducled for his Friday news conference; the NRA is gun denier headquarters. So in Dan Bice's world, if Scott Walker won't recognize this reality, it's because the NRA owns him because of campaign contributions. It's the only logical reason for not backing stiffer gun control measures because not backing them is just plain crazy. Of course, Bice has this backwards. The NRA backed Walker because they know he already supports, at least genearlly, their positions. Walker is a pro-gun rights guy. That's why he got a high grade from the NRA on gun rights.
But this is the full court press that gun rights advocates can now expect. If you don't now accept as fact that we need tougher gun laws you're either on the take, crazy, or both. Bice's dog whistle argument here is choice A, on the take. Walker would likely come to his senses and accept this new reality if it weren't for those NRA bribes. Nonsense. Walker's positions on guns came first; the NRA money followed. Bice knows this, but it doesn't fit into the alternate reality that he has apparently joined in peddling.
