An Early Christmas Gift: Chris Larson

The Journal-Sentinel thought it was noteworthy that Robin Vos and other Republicans responded to Larson's pick as Democrat Senate Minority Leader with ridicule. After all, Larson is a rookie, and beat a moderate democrat by running to his left. It would be one thing for democrats to pick a very inexperienced leader, and another thing to pick a radical lefty like Larson. But to get both in one package? It seemed as though they went out of their way to find the most extreme lefty they could. And as for Vos and the other not thinking much of the pick, it didn't take long for Larson to live up to, or perhaps down to, their expectations.

I don't have much to add to what Media Trackers said, but this is stunning. Reducing government is reducing democracy? Democracy is threatened when government outgrows the ability of the citizenry to contain it. Something that Trackers did miss, and this might be a typo, or might be Freudian:

. You’re reducing the ability of people to hold their electeds accountable and actually get a safety net when people are feeling down

"Feeling down?" Perhaps he meant or said "falling down." But we need a safety net for when people are feeling down? And it's clear by this statement that Larson's definition of democracy is government caring for people. Good God.
