Yes, the operative word here is "claims" to have landed an aircraft on a carrier. But over the past two or three years I have shared on the show numerous warnings from experts following China who make the case that it is preparing its military to go toe to toe with the United States and its allies in China's part of the world. This is particularly true of naval superiority. The obvioius question is: why? The equally obvious answer is because at some point China plans on challenging the U.S. and the rest of the Western world with some type of provocative and even destablizing action.
During the Foreign Policy debate, Mitt Romney and President Obama sparred over Romney's declaration of Russia as a serious strategic threat. I supported Romney's position, but there is no doubt that China is the greatest soverign state geopolitical threat to the United States. The west is so busy wanting access to the 1.3 billion potential customers within her borders that they are failing, or perhaps refusing, to see the serious military threat she poses.
If this is story is verified, it's a major development. Will anybody notice?
