"The Walker Model"

Posted by Jerry Bader on

This piece is not only accurate, but it makes one nostaligic for the good old days. That would be last June 6. Ah, remember the feeling? Walker beat back the recall and was dubbed the conservative rock star Tom Barrett spent the recall campaign claiming he was already.

And "The Walker Model" was hailed as the strategy for defeating Barack Obama that fall. "Go big and go bold" Walker urged Republican candidate Mitt Romney. The Walker Model was the answer. But it was ignored. Not only by Mitt Romney but by the entire Republican party.

Walker has decided a few battles aren't worth fighting this session,(I don't agree with all of them) but for the most part he and majority Republicans are continuing an aggressive conservative agenda. Now, the Walker model can implemented because Republicans have everything: the Senate, Assembly and Walker. Congressional Republicans can't be blamed for not using power they don't have. But the point of this is still valid: staying true to conservative values is the key. And it's exactly what Republicans on the national stage are struggling to do right now.
