Declare that those who aren't for increased gun control are part of some lunatic fringe. Call changes that you can make without legislative action "modest" and those who oppose them look extreme. Politico is right; the Obama administration has used this strategy before, effectively.

And I would argue it's working this time. The House of Representatives is the last firewall against draconian new gun laws. But gun rights advocates ought to be prepared for measures to be included in Biden's presentation that circumvent Congressional action.
