Hysterical Reaction

Posted by Jerry Bader on

The title of this post is intended as a double entendre. I found the reaction to Clarke's PSA hysterically funny and I believe his crtics were hysterical in their reaction. This is not vigilantism. A vigilante is someone who tries to extract justice on their own. That Barrett, the Journal-Sentinel and others don't know the difference between vigilantism and self-defense is hard to believe. That they're confusing the two on purpose is quite possible.

Law enforcement agencies can scream and moan all they want; the reality is Clarke is right. Law enforcement, for the most part, investigates crime, it doesn't prevent it. And to prove Clarke's point: if you're attacked by a criminal and a genie could immediately grant you a wish, would you wish for a cell phone(assuming you didn't have one) to call 911, or would you wish for a gun?
