Greenheck Fan CEO Dwight Davis

NEWS BLOG (WSAU) - If you believe Greenheck Fan CEO Dwight Davis, the Schofield company that makes fans, coolers and other ventilation equipment is growing despite laying off 600 employees since November 2008.

Davis told his company’s story yesterday to local executives as part of an event sponsored by the business group Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce.

Let me tell you why I covered the story. It was not to give free publicity to Greenheck or put a positive spin on their operations. Instead, the insights that Davis shared offered a new perspective on the Greenheck story. In his words, the layoffs are unfortunate but they are only part of the story. The other part is how the company has been resilient and adapted to the changing economic times.

Yes, the layoffs are significant, leaving an impact on this community that will be felt until the economy recovers and the workers are recalled or until they find another job. But, you deserve to hear all sides of a story and our coverage accomplished just that.
