According to a British survey, four out of five guys now carry a 'man bag'. And man bags are getting bigger at the same time women's purses are shrinking.
--It's because guys need something to carry their iPads, Kindles and other electronic devices . . . so more of them have started wearing shoulder bags, like a messenger bag.
--One chain of department stores in England said that sales are up 2,700% this year.
--The contents of the average guy's bag is about $1,600 . . . and it weighs 3.3 pounds. That's nearly a full pound more than the average woman's purse.
--But women's purses are shrinking . . . because electronic devices are getting smaller. The average woman's purse is 61% smaller than it was three years ago.
Ok, I've made the transition from carrying a leather briefcase to a back pack... Why? Because it's easier. It has nothing to do with fashion. I like that I can sling the thing over my shoulder AND carry a travel mug of coffee AND have a hand free to open doors etc.
My question is; Is a back pack a "Man Bag"? Oh god, I hope not...
