12-year-old Marius Schneider of southern Germany has cystic fibrosis, which caused him to have respiratory problems.
--He was on the organ transplant list, waiting for new lungs . . . but his breathing got worse. On Friday, April 13th, he had to be put on a ventilator and a heart-lung machine.
--That's when his parents, Lars and Anja, got sick of waiting. Both of them had the same blood type as Marius . . . and both of them had larger lungs than their son.
--Those are the two requirements for a transplant . . . so Lars and Anja EACH donated one lung to save their son's life.
--Surgeons used three operating rooms to do the double-transplant in April. The surgery took six hours, and Marius spent 155 days in the hospital afterward.
--He finally got to go home this month . . . and, while his immune system is still weak, he can play soccer and ride his bike.
