The Big Man is Back

Posted by Tom King on

Last night was a perfect example about how important Andrew Bogut is to the Bucks. Bogut has missed 6 games with injury and the Bucks dropped 4 of them. He was supposed to be out 4 weeks but came back  last night  and scored 22 points with 15 boards, 3 assists, two steals and 2 blocks as Milwaukee beat Chicago 99-97 at the Bradley Center. Bogut not only anchors the middle defensively and can score down low...his passing makes everybody else better. Brandon Jennings can especially benefit from Bogut's presence. It seems the youngster is developing a good chemistry with the talented Aussie. So it's onward for Milwaukee with or without Michael Redd who you really can't count on to be healthy on any consistent basis. The Bucks have enought to compete without Redd but they need a healthy Bogut for the balance of the season.

The Wausau West hockey team begins play tonight In Antigo as the pre-season number one team in the state and Coach Pete Susens joked that this is the longest they've ever held the number one honor. The other times West was ranked on top they would lose that week to quickly fall out of the top spot. Don't look for that to happen anytime soon. Despite always playing a tough schedule, the Warriors are absolutely loaded this season. The biggest problem is going to be finding enough ice time for all of the skilled players. Expect practice to be very competitive and if the players subjugate their egos for the team it easy to see the Warriors in madison come March.

We will have a boys basketball doubleheader tonight on Foxsports 1390 WRIG. First up the DC Everest Evergreens travel to Madison East...pre game begins at 7pm...then it's Wausau East hosting Pulaski (approx 9:15). Once again remember all of our high school sports action will be on FOXSPORTS 1390 WRIG. that's 1390 on the AM dial.

Songs of the Day

Dayton, Ohio 1903-Randy Newman (1972) before he became a writer for animated kid's movies Newman released a collection of sardonic piano based LP's in the 70's. Sounding more like this was written in 1903, Newman's early work , while sounding simple always struck me as very complex and interesting the more you listen. This is from "Sail Away".

Dazed & Confused-Led Zeppelin (1969) from the debut Lp and what became a centerpiece of their concert set list for years. It also features Page playing his guitar with a violin bow...take a look at the video.
