The High school baseball season gets under way today for a few teams including the Wausau East Lumberjacks. I'll have their doubleheader from Adams-Friendship on Foxsports1390 WRIG beginning at 2:50 this afternoon.
The Wausau West baseball team has been spending spring break in Orlando scrimmaging other teams from around the country. They even got a visit from CC Sabathia earlier this week.
The Brewer bats woke up a bit yesterday in a 12-7 win over the Cubs. Prince Fielder had a grand slam and the Crew scored 8 runs in the 8th for the win. They will play Arizona today before heading to Milwaukee for games with Detroit on Friday & Saturday. Opening day is Monday against Colorado. You can hear all Brewer games on WSAU and WSAU FM.
One Brewer who may have played himself out of a job this spring is Corey Hart. He's hitting .127 with 17 strikeouts and Ken Macha may keep in on the bench to start the season...especially since Jim Edmonds is playing so well.
The Bucks havent had much luck against the Cleveland Cavaliers in recent years so you can understand the frustration of Scott Skiles when they let one get away in Cleveland last night. The Bucks should have won despite Cleveland shooting 45 free throws to just 9 for Milwaukee.
What are the odds of this.....Minnesota Twin Denard Span fouled off a pitch and nailed his mother who had just taken her seat at the game. It hit her in the chest and a few inched either way could have been alot more serious. She was tended to by paramedics and watched the rest of the game.
Songs of the Day (from my I-pod)
Everything is Different Now-Don Henley (2000) from his "Inside Job" Cd the eagles front man tempers his strident politics and world-weary cynicism with a new found contentment with a new woman. It doesnt hurt that he surrounds himself with a group of crack musicians and a bunch of his friends. My favorite Henley solo effort.
Everything's Comin Up Roses-Nanci Griffith (1997) the Texas 'folkabilly" queen surround herself with the likes of Darius Rucker,Harlan Howard and various Crickets on thsi mixed bag cd. It's hard not to like almost everything she recorded. No video available
