The Wisconsin men's basketball team....much maligned at the beginning of the season....continues to move up the polls with two more victories in the past week. The Badgers are now 11th in the media poll...13th in the coaches poll...and take on a redhot Illinois squad tonight at the Kohl center. The Badgers also are 9th in RPI which is used to help dertime seeding for the tournament.
The Bucks are playing well and are in a position to make a playoff run after this weekend's all-star break. Milwaukee have won 5 of their last 6 and face Detroit tonight and New Jersey tomorrow.
A Statue for Bud Selig? The Brewers are going to place a statue of the Commissioner and former Brewer owner next to Robin Yount and Hank Aaron outside Miller Park later this season. Granted, there probably would be no major league baseball in Milwaukee without Selig....but his legacy is certainly a mixed bag. His cancelling of the World Series and ignoring of the steroid issue are stains that are hard to wash out.
Songs of The Day
Down on the Corner-Creedence Clearwater Revival (1969) a solid American band with John Fogarty leading the way. This comes from their 4th straight million selling album "Willie & The Poor Boys". Fogarty overdubbed all the vocals.
Down To The Waterline-Dire Straits (1978) the first cut from the first LP. I remember sitting in the college radio station in Stevens Point, putting this on the turntable and being blown away by the guitar virtuosity of Mark Knopfler. One Lp i would need on a desert island.
