The Olympics will go on...that much is certain. But the celebrations will certainly will be more muted than they would have been before Friday. Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili was killed after losing control of his sled and hitting a steel support pole. We were just dicussing the luge course and how competotrs were saying that it was a dangerous course. Of course you never think that a crash will result in a death. Real life is not supposed to intrude on our fun and games. The lugers will be back on the course today....will they have doubts?....fears?....yes, but they will perservere...because that's what the Olympics is about as well...imposing your will on your discipline....the death of a competitor will only steel the resolve of the remaining lugers to conquer the course...if only in his memory.
Weather may cause postponement of some of the downhill skiing events. Featured events today include Individual ski-jumping...men's five thousand meters in speedskating...womens 7.5 kilometer biahalon...short track mens'15 hundred and ladies moguls skiing.
The Badgers get a bit of a respite today from the tougher part of the Big Ten as they take on Indiana.
Yesterday we talked about Billboard magazine's list of the "sexiest" songs for Valentines Day. The list was mostly terrible so I said I would put together a list guaranteed to create the mood you are looking for.
Here is a partial list...just off the top of my head
Let's get It On-Marvin Gaye
Sexual Healing-Marvin Gaye
Don't Know Much-Aaron Neville & LindA Ronstadt
Caught Up In The Rapture-Anita Baker
Stay Awhile-The Bells
We're All Alone-Boz Scaggs
Sweet Love-Commodores
The Best of My Love-Eagles
Come Away With Me-Norah Jone
Always & Forever-Heatwave
Make It With You-Bread
Lay Lady Lay-Bob Dylan
Nobody Does It Better-Carly Simon
I Know there are tons more that are better that the crummy list that Billboard put together.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
