Wausau West and Wisconsin Rapids once again earned trips to the State Team Wrestling Tournament in Madison with sectional victories on Tuesday. Both teams are very familiar with each other and have alot of success at the State Tournament in the past. They will face off March 5th.
The first round of the WIAA Hockey Boys Hockey Tournament began with some close games last night. DC Everest beat Antigo 4-2, Marshfield edged Ashland 2-1, Lakeland topped Rhinelander 5-2, Pacelli beat Merrill 4-3 in overtime, and Northland Pines knocked off Tomahawk 6-2. This sets up the Regional final games later this week...here is the schedule

Northland Pines at Stevens Point (7pm Thursday at KB Willet Arena in Point)

Tough Day at the Olympics for the US Curling teams. The men dropped both of their matches while the women lost their opener to Japan. If you want to learn more about curling and even try it out yourself...get out to the Wausau Curling Club this weekend. They will have an open house Saturday from 11-4 and Sunday from noon-3. Members will answer you questions about the sport and help you try it out. Mayor Tipple of Wausau is schedule to try his hand around 2 on Saturday. Wear clean rubber soled shoes. The Curling Club is at Marathon Park behind the cow-barns in the southeast corner of the Park.
The Bucks get back from the All-Star break tonight hosting Houston. The NBA trading dealine is this Thursday and don't be surprised if the Bucks are dealing. They have some veterans with expiring contacts which are very tempting for teams that want to clear cap space for this summer's star studded free agent pool.
