Badger Bob Would Be Proud

Posted by Tom King on

the imageFormer Wisconsin hockey coach Bob Johnson used to say "It's a great day for hockey'. It certainly was yesterday as three former Badgers were named to the US Olympic team including Plover native and SPASH grad Joe Pavelski. The others were Brian Rafalski and Ryan Suter. Suter's dad Bob played for the 1980 "Miracle on Ice team" and his brother Garrett plays for the Pointers. Three former Badger women's players also made the Olympic team...Jinelle Zaugg-Siergiej of Eagle River, Jesse Vetter from Cottage Grove and Molly Engstrom from Siren. The Olympic games begin February 12th in Vancouver.

To rest or not...that is the question facing NFL coaches this week for teams that are in the playoffs. New Orleans won't play Drew Brees this week so he will have two weeks off before their first playoff game. The Cardinals will know shortly before kickoff with the Packers if they have something  to play for and if not expect Kurt Warner to sit it out....what does Mike McCarthy do with Aaron Rodgers, Charles Woodson & Ryan Grant?

The Badger football team beat Miami in the Champ Sports Bowl to set up nicley for next season. with alot of key guys back and a schedule that, with the exception of Austin Peay, is tough enough it should be a very interestin fall in Madison.

The Badger basketball team hammered Ohio State in the first Big Ten game os the season. Screw the pundits I think Wisconsin plays for the Big Ten Title again.

Songs of the Day

Do the Funky Chicken-Rufus Thomas (1970) one of the classic soul men of Memphis in the 60's and early 70's, Thomas hit it big with this dance tune.

Do Something-Eagles (2007) another classic Glenn Frey vocal from "Long Road Out Of Eden". he may look alot rougher these days but his pipes are still clear.
