Is it just me or do the majority of NBA players have no clue how normal society behaves. Whether it's impregnating women too numerous to remember....covering their entire bodies with tattoos....blowing fortunes on clothes, cars & jewelery...or in the case of Gilbert Arenas and Jarvis Crittendon, bringing guns into the locker room. The two Wizards players reportedly had an argument over a gambling debt and brandished guns to try and settle it. Commissioner David Stern was not amused and suspended Arenas indefinitly without pay. It's only a matter of time before his agent begins the public relations effort claiming his client is misunderstood, needs the guns for protection or whatever other claptrap they can come up with. Maybe Stern's harsh punishment will send a message to some of these clowns that their boorish behavior has reached a point that polite society will no longer tolerate. We can only hope.
Andre Dawson is the only player who recieved enough votes to get into the baseball hall of fame this summer. Bert Blyleven came up just short again. Roberto Alomar also just missed. Some of these voters have no clue. Once again Tim Raines doesnt even get a sniff.....look at his numbers and tell me Raines doesnt deserve to be in the Hall. He of course had some problems with cocaine back in his playing days and that probably has something to do with it.
The Badger Basketball team shot poorly and didn't get to the line enough last night in a loss at Michigan State. It doesnt get easier this Saturday as they face Purdue.
I'll have high school hockey tonight on our sister station Foxsports 1390 WRIG as Wausau East travels to Rhinelander...pregame at 630....that will be followed by the DC Everest-Stevens Point game.
Songs of The Day
Do You Remember These-Statler Brothers (1972) The best selling country act gets another hit listing all of the things they remember from their childhoods in the 50's.
DOA-Bloodrock (1971) about as far away from the Statler's as you can get. How did this song make it on the radio? It went to number 36 on the charts in '71. It's the story of the survivor of a crash (plane or car?) and his gruesome description of his injuries. I remember clearly hearing this on WIFC when I was 14 and wondering what the hell it was. I've included the long version so check it out
