This is the anniversary of the Miami Dolphins concluding their perfect football season with a 14-7 Super Bowl win over Washington in 1973. The 72' Dolphins have reveled in their perfect season since then but it seems todays teams are not interested in pursuing perfection. Whether it's the Colts, Saints or other teams that have had a shot, teams these days seem more interested in keeping players healthy for the playoff run. We will see how that plays out this week for both the Colts and Saints as Brees hasnt played for 3 weeks and Manning played only a little two weeks ago.
The Badgers held off a pesky Northwestern team last night. Did you know that Northwestern is the only team from a major conference that has never made the NCAA tournament? They have a shot this year.
Are you watching "Men of A Certain Age" on TNT. It's Ray Romano's new show and it's a winner...men in their late 40's and early fifties will especially relate. It's interesting to see Romano do serious work while Andre Braugher is doing some comic stuff.
Songs of The Day
Don't Change Horses-Tower of Power (1974) a horn based soul & funk band out of Oakland with an everchanging lineup but whose horn section worked on other band's stuff throughout the 70's and 80's.
Don't Call Us-Sugarloaf (1975) a catchy tune skewering the record industry featuring the propulsive organ of Jerry Corbetta. Lots of inside jokes in this one...the touch tones were the unlisted phone number of a CBS executive that turned them down for a record contract.
