Connections

There are a few Wisconsin connections to this years Super Bowl. Jonathon Casillas is a rookie with the Saints. Former badger QB is with Indy...and the Colts coach Jim Caldwell is a Beloit native.

The Badger basketball team moved up a couple of spots to 16th in the latest poll. They are also 10 in RPI which is used to determine the NCAA field. They have a tough one at Purdue on Thursday.

A number of Central Wisconsin High School basketball teams are ranked this year. Marathon is ranked 7th in division 3 and Marshfield Columbus is 6th in division 4 for the boys. ranked teams for the girls include Wittenberg/Birnamwood at #8 in D-2...Neillsville is 8th in D-3....Rapids Assumption is #1 and Wausau Newman is 4th in D-4.

Join me for what should be a good hockey game tonight as Wausau East travels to Stevens Point....you can hear the game on Foxsports 1390 WRIG with pre game programming at 6:45...that will be followed by the DC Everest Girls basketball game with Eau Claire Memorial.

Songs of the Day

Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes-kd Lang (1988) an old song which went to number 1 for Skeets McDonald and Perry Como in the 50's. It's been done by everyone from Dean Martin to George Jones but lang's version on her great Lp "Shadowland" is a keeper. Owen Bradley brings his countrypolitan production to Langs golden voice.

Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me-Elton John (1974) Sir Elton really struggled to get this one right. It's a great ballad that features backing vocals from Carl Wilson, Bruce Johnstone and Toni Tennille. From the "Caribou" lp.
