I've been selected as one of the coaches at the annual Wisconsin State American Legion All-Star Game at Miller Park in Milwaukee on Sunday August 8th. The game features some of the best Legion players squaring off in a game following the Brewer-Astro game. The Brewers are the only major league organization in the country that does this and it's a great experience for the kids. The local players selected to the North squad include Mitch Howe of Wausau, Zach Wendorf of Merrill, Nick Nalbach of Plover, Aaron Eichsteadt of Nekoosa, Grant Bub of Medford and Jeff Baltus of Wisconsin Rapids.
We split a pair of games so far at the Kimberly Tournament beating Hortonville on Thursday 5-3 and losing to Ash-Port 5-3 on a walk-off 3 run homer in the 10th inning. We play Escanaba Michigan today.
The Lebron James show on Thursday night was an embarrasment...for both him and ESPN. I know all the commercial proceeds went to the Boys & Girls Clubs but that is the only redeeming factor of this nonsense. The inmates are running the asylum.
The Woodchucks were a disappointing team down the stretch in the first half of the season and were called out by manager Guido Aspetia for their apparant lack of interest in the losing results. We'll see what kind of changes are in store for the team as they head into the second half...they started with an extra-inning loss in Madison Friday night and host the Mallards tonight (saturday).
