My colleague Dave Kallaway oftern have a discussion on what is a sport and what isn't. He believes fishing is a sport...I think it's a recreational activity. I think we would both agree that Beer Pong is not a sport. But now Beer Pong as gone national with a Beer Pong Championship being contested in Atlantic City for a 25,000 dollar first prize. It was won earlier this week by two guys from Sacramento. The game is played on a ping-pong table and each side of the table has numerous full glasses of beer. The object of the game is to throw your ball into one of the glasses on the other side...if you do the other team has to drink it and remove the glass from the table.....first team to clean off the glasses from the other side wins. and gets drunk in the process. That's why this can't be considered a sport. nothing can be a sport if the competitors can get drunker than the fans.
Congrats to Steve Warren and Marathon. They won their second state baseball title in the last three years beating La Crosse Aquinas 15-7. Nick Blume pitched a complete game win and also went 5-6 in the game.
The Wausau Legion Bulldogs won a wild one last night beating Stevens Point 7-6. Post 10 scored 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth to erase a two-run deficit and pull out the victory. A couple of misplayed flyballs and a disputed call at first base added to the madness. Wausau is now 6-1 to start the season and will host Wisconsin Rapids tonight (Friday) at Athletic Park at 7pm.
The Brewers return to action tonight at Coors Field with the Rockies. You can hear the game on WSAU.
Songs of the Day- (from my I-pod)
From Me To You-Beatles(1963) the first UK number 1 for the Fab Four and also was the first charting Lennon/McCartney song but not by them. Del Shannon recorded it and took it onto the pop charts.
From The Beginning-Emerson, Lake & Palmer (1972) A Greg Lake song with a spacy Keith Emerson moog finish.
