The Wausau West & CW Storm could not finish their quest for State Titles in hockey. The Storm lost in the semi-finals on Friday. The Warriors made it to the championship game before losing to University School. U-School had started the season slowly and were beaten handily by West in early December....but righted their ship and beat both Green Bay Notre Dame and Wausau West to win the crown. i'm not one of those people that believe if you don't win the championship, the season is a disappointment. Especially at the high school level, the journey is as important as the the result. Winning a title is hard. If you give your best effort and fall short....there is no shame in that.
The Pointer men & women's basketball teams advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA D-3 Tournament. the men will host this weekend...the women head to Bloomington, Illinois.
The Badger men's basketball team beat Illinois yesterday. They are the 4 seed for this week's Big Ten tournament. The Badger men's hockey team lost to Minnesota yesterday. They host Alaska-Anchorage this weekend in the WCHA tournament.
The season came to an end for the Central Wisconsin Saints of the Great Lakes Hockey Junior League. They dropped 2 of 3 games in Kenosha to the Wisconsin Rampage.
The Bucks beat Cleveland on Saturday....Lebron didn't play.
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
Edge Of Seventeen-Stevie Nicks (1981) from her solid solo Lp "Bella Donna" came this tune written after the death of her uncle and John Lennon in the same week.
Edith and The Kingpin-Joni Mitchell (1975) after the success of "Court & Spark", Joni returned with "the Hissing Of Summer Lawns" which wasn't as enthusiacticly recieved. This is a jazzy tune from that album.
