Brewer GM Doug Melvin said yesterday that criticism of Ken Macha "isn't fair" and it's too early to panic about the struggles of the Brewers this season. The Brewers are 12-15 and have won two in a row after dropping 8 of 10. Melvin says strange things are happening in baseball in the early part of the season and the Brewers are no exception. The Brewers have lost 6 games in which they were leading after 8 innings. You win those and the record is 17-8. Those things tend to even out over the course of a season. Prince Fielder seems to be heating up and that will help that middle of the line up that had been scuffling to score runs. Brewers/Dodgers tonight on WSAU...pre game at 8:35.
If you're a fan of the tv show Criminal Minds you'll see Packer wide reciever Greg Jennings on the show tonight. He has a small speaking role as a forensic lab technician who zips a corpse into a body bag. Jennings got the part with the help of a friend of the show's director.
A reminder once again to join us for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast this Sunday at the Wausau American Legion Clubhouse on Wausau's northeast side. All proceeds support the Wausau Legion Baseball team. It runs from 8-1 and the cost is $6 for adults and $3 for kids under 6. Hope to see you there.
It's a high school baseball doubleheader today on our sister station Foxsports1390 WRIG ...first up is DC Everest and Wausau West which should be a good one...pre game at 4:15...that will be followed by Wausau East at Rhinelander.
You might have also heard that our family of radio stations has come to an agreement with the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods League to broadcast their games on Foxsports 1390 WRIG and WSAU. The Sunday games will be a featured Game of the Week on WSAU Am & FM and the rest of the week will have the games on Foxsports 1390 WRIG. The season starts June 2nd. I will have a yet to be determined role on these broadcasts.
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
Five O Clock World-The Vogues (1966) a smooth vocal quartet from Pennsylvania had an unlikely hit with this tune during the British Invasion. Check out the cheezy set...this was a standard way for pop groups to present their hits on tv variety shows of the day.
Flashlight-Parliament (1977) The P-Funk brigade had a dance hit with this groove from the Lp "Funkentelechy & The Placebo Syndrome"...ah, they don't name LPs like that anymore. Check out this video featuring the groups Dr. Funkenstein and his Bop Gun in Houston Texas circa 1978
