Packer coach Mike McCarthy announced yesterday that Jermichael Finley will miss the rest of the season. It was thought that Finley could make it back before the end of the season but McCarthy said the Packers don't want to rush him back. Finley joins Ryan Grant, Nick Barnett and Morgan Burnett on the injured list. They do expect to have Al Harris, Atari Bigby and James Starks back at practice this week.
The Badgers hope they can avoid a hangover when they travel to Iowa City this week. Bret Bielema did say that the 4 Badgers hurt on Saturday should be able to play. Mike Taylor, Nick Toon, Lance Kendricks & Jordan Kohut were all out of the game at various points on Saturday.
Casey McGehee was named the Brewer MVP by the Milwaukee chapter of the BAseball Writers. Yovanni Gallardo was named most valuable pitcher. Corey Hart and John Axford may have a quibble but McGehee and Gallardo did have solid seasons.
Watched the season ending episodes of Rubicon and Mad Men yesterday (recorded from Sunday Night). What did you think? I'm a little deflated by the end of the year on Rubicon which became my favorite show as the season progressed. I'm glad they left it open for another season and the fact that the character of Truxton Spangler will be back. He became one of the great villians in TV history. Mad Men seemed rushed this week.... cramming alot into a short period. The ending scene was pretty good showing the desperation of Betty Draper as she became a total meltdown as this season went along. Once again though, like Rubicon, the acting on Mad Men is tremendous. If you didnt get into these shows, use the next 8 months to catch up and join in the fun next summer.
Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School in Kronenwetter is one of the smallest schools (if not the smallest school) in the state, and their athletic teams have struggled as you might expect. But, This year the girls volleyball team has put together an outstanding season and earned a #4 seed in the WIAA tournament that begins today. Congrats to the girls for perservering through some tough years to get to this place. The D-2,3 & 4 volleyball playoffs begin today.
Songs of the Day (from My I-pod)
Good Timin-Jimmy Jones (1960) and uptempo R&B tune which gives you a good idea of the sound of the era.
Good Vibrations-Beach Boys (1966) Brian Wilson's pyschedelic trip which went to Number 1. The sliding electronic sound is made with something called an electric theremin. Also Glen Campbell (who was one of the great LA session men of the day, before hitting it big) plays guitar on this one.
