The Wisconsin badgers dominated the Runnin Rebels of UNLV Saturday night. Despite two turnovers in the first half that led to scores Wisconsin had no problem with Vegas as it should have been. Wisconsin can't afford a stumble if they hope to put together the kind of season they think they can. 3 straight home games will prepare them for the Big ten opener at East Lansing. It's also nice that Wisconsin appears to have a 3 headed rushing monster to save John Clay from overwork.
The Packers made some interesting cuts this weekend that were immediatly snapped up by other teams. Spencer Havner was probably the most surprising cut because of all the different things he could do. He was grabbed by the Lions. Ol Breno Giacomini was signed to the practice squad but the Vikings are expected to grab him for their regular roster.
Congrats to Wausau East for a dominating football win over Sparta on Friday night. the wins have been few and far between the last couple of years for the Lumberjacks but they appear to be better. The faster version of the Jacks will take a couple of steps up in competition this week at DC Everest.
Songs fo the Day (from my I-pod)
Give It All You've Got-Chuck Mangione (1980) written as the theme for the 1980 Olympic Games. The fluegelhorn player was at his hottest at this point. I met him and his band backstage at a Madison show. He was a nice guy.
Give It One-Maynard Ferguson (1972) A kick-ass tune from one of his MF Horn LPs. Ferguson wailed like no other trumpet player.
