The Milwaukee Brewers continue to play just well enough to stay in the race. With about five weeks to the trading deadline, the Brewers find themselves 6 1/2 games back of the Reds after taking 2 out of 3 from Toronto this week. Milwaukee has the day off today before an interleague series with the White Sox this weekend and then a big 3 game series with the Reds at Miller Park. In July they have 14 games against division opponents including three more with the Reds in Cincinnatti. The hitting for the most part has been ok with Braun, Hart & Ramirez leading the way. They should get Lucroy back in July sometime and Estrada is expected back next week to bolster the rotation. If Gallardo and Grienke can continue to pitch well and the back end of the bullpen can right themselves, they can get back in it and maybe become buyers and not sellers at the deadline.
Columnist Michael Hunt suggested this week that the Brewers must trade Zach Grienke now. I couldnt disagree more. Grienke is an odd duck...but he produces. And just like when the trade was made..if you have a chance to lock up one of the best pitchers in baseball in his prime...you do it.
I'll be off tomorrow...I'm heading down to Kenosha for the weekend. The Wausau Legion Post 10 Bulldogs are playing in a 10 team tournament which includes a number of top teams from Illinois. Should be a good test for our squad. we are 7-4 on the season and our next home game is next Tuesday against Merrill.

The Jet Set-Joe Jackson(1986) from his brilliant "Big World" lp comes this scathing look at the arrogance of privliged Americans. Don't look in the mirror...you might not like what you see.
Jet Set Sigh-Stephen Stills & Mannassas (1972) Stills and Chris Hillman formed the band that lasted for about a year and half and delivered a fine collection of rock-blues-country....you really couldnt put a label on it...but it was all good
