The internet has become indispensable. Many peoples live revolve around it. I couldnt do my job nearly as well without the instant information available. It is said that a 10 year old with a smart phone has more information at his fingertips than the President of the United States had 15 years ago. Also the popularity of social media has been well documented. I enjoy Facebook. It has allowed me to re-connect with old friends I havent talked with in years. Twitter has become a way for celebrities and others to communicate directly with their fans, without any editing. I have learned much by following various people on Twitter. yes...there is alot of chaff to sift through for the golden nuggets...but I find it fascinating to realize that big-name celebrities can be as mundane and down-to-earth as you and I.

There is a dark side to this as well. The anonymity of the internet can lead to poisonous comments filling message boards. Death threats, racial insults and hate filled speech are common. You have to go no further than the message board on this web-site to see some of the despicable comments and descriptions of entire groups of people. And it's mostly done behind the cowardly veil of anonymous post. Man up you pathetic worms. If you have something insulting to say about someone...post your name...or your mindless rants mean less than nothing.

Milwaukee Brewer catcher Jonathon Lucroy's wife is getting hate mail on Facebook for the accidental breaking of her husband's hand by knocking a suitcase off a hotel bed. This is just the latest example of this sort of thing in the world of sports. There is a difference between being a fan and being a person who posts death threats or other vile messages to athletes for failing to come through in the big game. And to drag a person's family into it even lower.

I don't care if it's politics, sports, local news or whatever...if you sit down to your keyboard and the only thing your feverish mind can come up with is hate...and you're going to do it without posting your name...karma will find you. What goes around, comes around.

The Brewers did it again last night. They have beaten the Dodgers three straight nights with a make-shift lineup. Carlos Gomez had 4 hits. They go for the sweep tonight.

Overtime in the Stanley Cup Finals. It doesnt get much better than that. Anze Kopitar's nifty breakaway won it for the Kings.

The New Orleans Hornets win the NBA Draft Lottery and the right to pick Anthony Davis of Kentucky with the first pick. The Bucks will pick 12th.

A big day of high school sports today. Baseball, softball & soccer regionals. And the State boys individual tennis tournament begins in Madison.

It's a triple header of baseball on Foxsports1390 today. First up DC Everest-Wausau West baseball at 4:20...followed by Woodchucks baseball at Eau Claire...and we will fin ish up with a delayed broadcast of the Wausau East-Bayport regional game from Bayport.
