I cant remember an election that has been filled with so much nonsense. And the networks, blogs and squawk shows kept shoveling it at us right up until today when the only poll that ever matters is the one you mark in the election booth. The right continues to trot out people like Dick Morris...who said this week that he thinks it will be a landslide for Romney. Why does Dick Morris continue to be used to give astute political opinions like that?? Because a long time ago he had a falling out with the Clintons and he is a reliable fountain of anti-Democratic BS to feed the ever hungry maw of right wing shows. Hopefully we wont have to see or hear weasels like Morris or Coulter or Palin for another 4 years..or forever if the networks get smart. These people add nothing to the political discourse except partisan bile and they do it for one simple reason...to sell books or videos or whatever else they are hawking to seperate the zealots from their money. Fox News doesnt even bother to tell their viewers anymore that many of the so-called pundits they use are actually paid by the Republican Party, the Romney campaign or one of the well-heeled Super Pacs.
When the votes are tallied today, and it comes down to one or two counties in Ohio or Florida to once again determine a winner in this politically bi-sected country of our, remember these fools and do your part to stamp out political hackery by vowing to retire them to the dustbin of history
I'll be joining Jerry Bader on a web based discussion on the races tonight on wsau.com from 8-10pm. I promise not to ask you for money :-)
Many Packer fans will find this news more important than the election. Clay Matthews hs a hamstring injury that will probably keep him out for at least two weeks and maybe more. And Bryan Bulaga has a hip injury that needs more tests and could be season ending.
Brandon Jennings has started his salary drive in fine fashion with two excellent games to start the season...and he was recognized yesterday...being named the Eastern conference Player of The Week. The Bucks return to action tomorrow night at home against Memphis.
Songs of the Day (a couple of Political songs)
My Daddy is The President-Little Jo (1962) it went Top Twenty at the height of Camelot. You have to admit...Caroline was a cute kid.
We Didnt Start The Fire-Billy Joel (1989) He wrote it after a younger firend told him the country was falling apart and would never get fixed. Joel replied that he thought the same thing when he was young. The freind then said "yeah, but nothing happend in the Fifties". So as a public service to our young readers or a reminder to everyone else...when things look bad remember...we have a resilience in this country that is unmatched. Another Joel lyric works as well...in his song "Angry Young Man" he wrote "I once believed in causes too, I had my pointless point of view, but life went on no matter who was wrong or right". It may be cynical but regardless who wins today...life goes on....there will still be haves and have nots...we will go on polluting and looting the planet...and most of us will just get up every morning...go to work...pay the bills...and try to find some shreds of happiness and fulfillment along the way. good luck with that.
