The 2013 ballot for the Baseball Hall Of Fame is now in the voters hands. It, of course is the most controversial ballot ever as steroid abusers Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa & Roger Clemens appear for the first time. So, if I had a vote who would I choose. I have gone back and forth over this issue since it became apparent that many of the top players in the league were breaking the rules and the law when it came to the use of performance enhancing drugs...but I don't think there should be a blanket decision on all of thses guys when it comes to the HOF. I would probably vote for Bonds and Clemens, even though they both can be giant assholes, since they had worthy HOF numbers before the steroids. Sosa, Mark McGwire & Rafeal Palmiero would not get my vote for the same reason...they did not have the numbers before the suspicion began. There are some other players on the ballot that are worthy though, and hopefully will not be lost in all of the steroid talk. Curt Schilling, Jeff Bagwell, Edgar Martinez, Fred McGriff, Jack Morris, Tim Raines, Alan Trammel and maybe Craig Biggio would all get my vote. There are those voters who say they will never vote for anyone caught up in the steroid scandal, so I doubt that McGwire, Sosa, Palmiero, Bonds and even Clemens will ever get in. McGwire seems ok with that.Something tells me that Clemens and Bonds will not be.
By the way...what is the point of putting guys on the Hall-Of Fame ballot that have no chance of getting any votes? This years ballot also includes Royce Clayton, Jeff Conine, Shawn Green, Ryan Klesko, Reggie Sanders, Aarron Sele, Mike Stanton, Rondell White & Woody Williams and former Brewer Jeff Cirillo.
A rare home loss for the Badgers last night. Bucky was out-rebounded 36-25 and it seemed like a bigger margin than that. Just seven offensive boards for Wisconsin. They host undefeated California on Sunday at 3pm on the Big Ten Network and on Foxsportsradio 1390 AM & 93.9 FM.
I'll have high school hockey tonight as the Wausau East Lumberjacks host Antigo. Pre-game at 7...the puck drops at 7:15 on Foxsports radio AM 1390 & FM 93.9.
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
Let It All Hang Out-Hombres (1967) bet you havent heard this one for awhile. A one hit wonder from Memphis using a simple riff surrounded by what they probably thought were Dylanesque lyrics. Weird.
Let It Be Me-Everly Brothers (1964) near the end of their run of hits...but man can they make the harmony look easy.
