It's announcement day for the Baseball Hall-Of-Fame. And many sportwriters who have ballots are tearing out what little hair they have left over the the choice of whether or not to vote for known PED users.. The arguments rage on both sides. Vote yes because the majority of players in the 90's were using and how will you ever be able to know who was and who wasnt. Vote no because these guys knowingly broke the rules and put up numbers that they never would have had without the pharmacutical help. Vote yes because even the top players of earlier years used things like uppers to improve performance and there are plenty of players already in the Hall of questionable character...it should be about performance only. Vote no because otherwise who penalize those players who didnt use and whose numbers may have been good enough in the past to warrant entry but don't match up now...and on and on and on. If quality sportswriters like Tim Kurkjian and Jayson Satrk are conflicted...what are casual observers supposed to think. So we will know in awhile whether enough voters will hold their nose and vote for Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens etc...will they ignore rumors and vote for Jeff Bagwell...will Craig Biggio and Mike Piazza's numbers be enough to get them in...will Jack Morris & Tim Raines finally get the call...will it be a crowded dais this summer or a lonely one? We shall see.

The Central Wisconsin Hall-Of-Fame announced their inductees this week. The four new members include former Wausau Timber and major league great Omar Vizquel, Former Mosinee coach and Wausau High School standout Keith "Whitey' Steinagel, and two baseball standouts from the Taylor County area...Dan Kraschnewski of Medford who played college ball at New Mexico State and many years with Whittlesey of the Wisconsin Baseball Association...and Mike Roiger who was instrumental in the development of a strong baseball program in the Whittlesey area. The induction banquet is January 23rd at Dale's Weston Lanes and tickets are available by calling the Woodchucks office at (715) 845-5055.

A good day one for Jim Boylan. The Bucks beat the Suns last night at the Bradley Center. Boylan replaced Scott Skiles this week after Skiles and the team mutually parted ways. GM John Hammond said that Boylan will be the coach for the remainder of the season and he expects the Bucks to be a playoff contender going forward. One thing Boylan can do is solidify the rotation which was something Skiles never got around to doing this year. They play in Chicago tonight against the Bulls.

Ryan Braun announced yesterday they he will play for Team USA in the World BAseball Classic this spring. He has already begun workouts to get ready. Spring Training begins early this year so players can get ready for the WBC games. Several other Brewers are expected to play for their respective countries including Yovanni Gallardo, Marco Estrada, Martin Maldonado, John Axford and Jim Henderson.

David Bowie has announced his first new album in ten years. A single called "Where are they Now" went right to #1 on I-Tunes and the album called "The Next Day" can be pre-ordered before it's March 12th release date.
