Do Buck & Aikman Dislike Packers?

Posted by Tom King on

Packer fans are unhappy that the #1 team for Fox...Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will call the game Saturday night. They feel that Joe & Troy have it in for their beloved Packers and call the game in some biased fashion. I hate to break it to you guys but I don't see it. Just because any announcer is not as outraged over a blown call as you are...just because any announcer praises members of the opposing team when they deserve it...just because any announcer doesnt believe that every penalty call is going against your team...doesnt make them biased. I understand that people don't like the style of Joe Buck and I get that. he can come across as arrogant and supercilious at times. He doesnt seem to get excited when the game calls for that. He seems almost jaded. I don't get the constant criticism of Aikman. Although he can repeat himself  at times...I think  he's a pretty good analyst...certainly no worse than any of the other  former players that are trotted out ther every week. But are they biased against any one team...Nah...that's just your green & gold glasses and hearing aids playing tricks on you.

If you want a hometown call...use the radio. Wayne & Larry go way overboard but that's what their paid for. Larrivee is almost becoming a parody of himself with every 4 yard gain causing him to become almost apoplectic in his call. It's probably because he's so tired of McCarren stepping all over his lines. I wouldnt be surprised if one day Wayne finally snaps and tells Larry to shut his pie hole until he's done speaking.

The Badger hockey team returns to action tonight at Minnesota-State Mankato. You can hear the game on WSAU at 7.

Congrats to Wausau West grad Seth McMullen. After an All-American season as a junior at Winona State he has been selected as the pre-season Player of the Year in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. McMullen hit .360 last year with nine homers, 21 doubles and 49 RBI's.

Songs Of The Day   (from my I-pod)

Lily Of The West-Mark Knopfler & The Chieftans (1995) from the Chieftans LP 'The Long Black Veil" which featured many different artists and their renditions of traditional American folk songs like this one

Lily, Rosemary & The Jack of Hearts-Bob Dylan (1974) from "Blood on The Tracks" comes this incredible story song. Since much of Dylan's work is not available on You-Tube.,..I have included this excellent cover by a guy named Martin Delaney. I've never figured out why someone hasnt written a movie based on this song.
