'Godzilla' poster art, new photos and viral website

by Greg Belfrage

The first trailer for Warner Brothers' Godzilla is out and it's hot! I'm a long-time Godzilla fan and I haven't been this jacked since Godzilla kayo'd the Smog Monster!

Here's what we know about Godzilla... Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche are starring in the film. The movie also features Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, who is highly visible in the just released trailer.

Godzilla is being directed by Gareth Edwards. Edwards has told reporters that Godzilla will face two other monsters in the film, neither of which has been identified.

Rumor is that Warner Brothers has pledged not to repeat the mistakes of 1998's Godzilla starring Matthew Broderick. In my view, that movie is a Godzilla-sized pile of lizard poo doo. I refuse to soil my collection of Godzilla movies (over 20 at last count) with that stink bomb.

Warner Brothers is taking an incredibly creative approach to their marketing for the movie. Visitors to the official movie website appear to have logged on to a classified terminal within M.U.T.O. Research.  There are no details about the movie on the website, although the official trailer is now available to be viewed.

Warner Brothers has also released a few vague photos via the Godzilla Movie Facebook page. The photos are in an album titled, "M.U.T.O. Classified Documents". Note the M.U.T.O. markings on the helicopter.

Godzilla is scheduled for release in May 2014 and will be presented in 3D.  I'll be watching this movie closely, so more updates as soon as information becomes available!
