Judge Bars Media From Showing Stabbing Suspects Faces

by Jerry Bader

A judge does have some latitude in dictating how the media covers his or her courtroom. But this is unusual in that the girls, at least for the moment, are in adult court where there are usually no such restrictions. And this feels like an attempt to put the genie back in the bottle; they've been identified by name and by image globally.

If their lawyers succeed and they are placed in juvenile court, would the media stop naming/showing them? Just about everything about this case is unusual, including what the media has had to navigate so far.
