PINE RIVER, WI (WSAU) – There was a house fire in Pine River on Sunday afternoon.
The Lincoln County Sheriffs Department received a 911 call around 5pm. First responders were sent to a home on County Road P because of a kitchen fire.
A woman inside said she left a pot of grease on the stove while she went upstairs. It caught on fire, and the flames were climbing the kitchen walls when firefighters got there.
The woman was treated for burns on her arms. A pet dog did not survive.
The home suffered significant damage, and the fire is still being investigated.
Firefighters from Pine River, Hewitt, Russell, Corning, and the Town of Texas responded. Merrill EMS and Lincoln County sheriffs deputies also assisted at the scene.
