Can The Bucks Be Viable In Milwaukee?

by Tom King

There was an excellent piece on Grantland this week examining the status of the Milwaukee Bucks and whether or not they can remain in Milwaukee or will eventually move to someplace like Seattle. It's a good question. The Bucks are in complete re-build mode this year after an injury riddled start to the season left them sucking on the exhaust pipe of the rest of the league. I've been told by some folks that the Bucks can never be a contender in a place like Milwaukee. I don't buy that. Other so-called small market teams have contended in the past and the Bucks themselves are not that far removed from being one win away from a playoff finals appearance. Attendance is down though and ownership is in flux and claiming that they need a new arena to remain viable. The NBA was complicit in the theft of the Supersonics from  Seattle to Oklahoma City and it will be interesting to watch if new comissoner Adam Silver rights that egregious wrong of his predecessor and what city will take the hit. Milwaukee is a definite possibility.

No gold for the American womens hockey team. They couldnt hold a 2-0 3rd period lead and lost to Canada in OT 3-2. And no medals at all for the American female figure skaters for the first time since the 1930's.

The USA-Canada mens hockey game starts today at 11am .

There were a number of postponements in high school sports last night so tonight will be busy. heck the schedule elsewhere on this site...and we will have a triple header on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93.9 .I'll be at the West fieldhouse for the East-West girls & boys basketball doubleheader...that will be followed by the DC Everest at Stevens Point playoff hockey game.

Songs Of The Day..(.From my I-pod) There is a celebration of the life and music of Gerry Rafferty coming to his hometown in Scotland. Here are a couple of his classics

Baker Street-Gerry Rafferty (1978) a huge hit after he broke away from Joe Egan and their band Stealers Wheel

Star-Stealers Wheel (1974) a song that could have been about Rafferty who could not handle the success he found and drank himself to death
