As we head into the final weekend of May the Milwaukee Brewers find themselves with a three game lead and in first place in the National League Central. After a scorching April the team took a step back in may but nothing like the disaster that ruined last season. This team pitches much better than last year and has been continuing to win enough even with injuries to key guys throughout the month. The month of June features series with the Twins, Mets, Pirates, Reds but also a road trip to Arizona & Colorado and three home games with Washington. They dont see the Cardinals again until mid July and hopefully they can continue to increase their lead when Ramirez gets back into the lineup. Gomez, Davis Lucroy and Braun are key...but don't forget key additions like Mark Reynolds, Lyle Overbay for his defense and bullpen guys like Will Smith. This is a good team and I will be surprised if they don't contend all summer.
The Woodchucks have stumbled out of the gate and will try to turn it around tonight with the big home opener at Athletic Park. Fans can come out and see all of the improvements to the ballpark and enjoy fireworks after the game. You can hear the game on Foxsports Radio at 7pm.
$2 billion for the LA Clippers? Why not...Steve Ballmer has wanted a team for a long time. He wanted one for Seattle but he has said he is flexible enough (and rich enough apparantly to over pay to become a member of the exclusive club of NBA owners. The Bucks look like a bargain now. New Bucks owners Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry were in Milwaukee yesterday to hob-nob with fans. They hung out at a popular breakfast spot and also met a raucous group of fans at a Milwaukee watering hole last night. They seem to be making all the right moves so far.
I will have the final game of the regular season tonight for the Wausau East Lumberjacks as they host Marathon...pre game at 4:15 on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93.9.
