The College Football Hall-Of-Fame welcomed a new class yesterday and Badger legend Ron Dayne is part of it. The three time All-American led the Badgers to a pair of Rose Bowl titles in 1999 & 2000 and rushed for a total of 7125  as a Badger, which was a national record at the time. The first time I saw Dayne play was as a freshman and he left little doubt that he was going to be a major force. He was a punishing runner that wore down defenses and by the fourth quarter of games it was almost comical to watch overmatched linebackers and defensive backs want no part of trying to stop the 'Dayne Train". I always felt that the pros missed the boat on how to use Dayne properly. Tom Coughlin of the Giants had no patience to keep feeding him the ball even if the yardage wasnt piling up quickly. Dayne never had a chance to show what he could do in the second half of games because he was usually on the bench by that time. He certainly isnt the first player who excelled in college but not the NFL and he wont be the last. Those of us who saw him play will always have those memories of those glorious Saturday afternoons at Camp Randall and the PA announcer going nuts after another looonnng gainnnn by Ronnnn Daaaaaayne!!!

The Brewers broke their 5 game losing streak as they knocked off a very good Texas Ranger team 6-3 last night. Yuny Betancourt continues to amaze as he hit his 8th homer of the season. Also good to see Aramis Ramirez homer for the first time since coming off the DL. The Brewers and Rangers will play again tonight and you can hear the game on WSAU at 6:35.

Congrats to the Northland Lutheran/Wisc Valley Lutheran baseball team . They are 4-0 in the Marawood Conference  for the first time in school history after beating Wausau Newman last night. There have been some lean years for that team so Coach Aaron Michel has to be very excited about where they are right now.

The Wausau West Warrior baseball team swept a doubleheader from Wausau East last night but the Lumberjacks don't have any time to worry about it as they are right back in Valley Conference action tonight at Marshfield. I'll have the game on Foxsports AM1390 & FM 93.9 at 4:45.

Songs of The Day  (from my I-pod)

Love Don't Love Nobody-Spinners (1974) the great voice of the late Phillipe Wynne led the smooth as silk Spinners to hit after hit in the early and mid 70's

Love Gets You Twisted-Graham Parker & The Rumor (1979) I think he was born with a perpetual sneer. One of the finest purveyors of what was known as "New Wave"
