As we head into the last week of July I head into a changing of the season. with our elimination from the Legion baseball tournament last week another season of coaching comes to an end and its on to the next 'season' in the never ending merry-go-round of life. The end of the Legion season always comes abruptly. After winning our first two games, we couldnt come up with any timely hits on Friday and lost both games that day. I want to thank our senior players for their efforts...Andrew Block, Scott Kieper, Willy Brand, Matt Christian & Cole Nelson were a big part of the program the last few years. Also thanks to all the parents that put in alot of time working concessions, selling raffle tickets etc...special mention to Jeff Block and Jeff Brand who went over and above the line of duty. Also thanks to my other coaches Pat Meverden and Greg Grunenwald (both former Wausau players) who invested a big part of their summer to help these players get better. Thanks to Bill Wacholz who worked the scoreboard for another year. Thanks to all of our sponsors who helped us finance another top-notch schedule. Bunkers/Tribute Golf Course was among those and we thank them for their large contribution and allowing us to continue to host our Pancake breakfast in May...visit them for a fish fry or a round of golf if you can.
The changing of the season doesnt mean baseball ends for me. I finally get a chance to get down to Miller Park a couple of times this month...and am also looking forward to getting back to Target Field in September. I'll also be in the booth for Woodchucks every night this week as they make a playoff push. You can hear the games on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93.9.
But the end of July also means the Fair and football. I'll be at the fair on Tuesday afternoon for sure and maybe another day this week. Stop into the radio booth by the Youth Building and pick up a Packer/Badger schedule. Packer training camp is up and running and that means the Badgers and high school football isnt far behind. The first high school football broadcast is August 21st.
Songs of the Day (from my I-pod)
Nights In White Satin-Moody Blues (1967) the mixture of classical and rock hits a high spot with this one
Nighttime For The Generals-Crosby, Stills & Nash (1988) a Crosby song from the "American Dream" lp which was a reunion with Neil Young. Not a bad album really.
